Twiga was founded and is managed by Amir Ben-Asher.

Amir brings 25 years of experience and expertise in a wide variety of fields as a senior manager in the business world. Employing a broad perspective and strong strategic analysis capabilities, Amir accumulated extensive experience in improving operational and customer service units as well as a deep understanding of technologies and has an outstanding track record in budget planning and monitoring as well as financial analysis. For eight years Amir was a senior partner in setting strategy, planning organizational structures and cost reductions at Bezeq, the national Israeli incumbent telecom group, one of the largest companies in Israel, providing services for millions of customers.

Amir has initiated and spearheaded large scale cross-organizational projects to improve performance, increase productivity, and reduce costs in some of the largest operational and customer facing service units in Israel. This he achieved by reengineering and improving business processes, setting business goals and implementing employee benefits, outsourcing, implementation of business planning and monitoring methodologies and tools.

As a senior director, Amir was responsible for business planning, strategic and economic analysis of major products, services and technological platforms, and later on for planning, allocating and monitoring of wages and resources budgets at Bezeq. Amir enabled the company to trim and focus the product and service portfolio, establish a long-term technology roadmap design for maximizing value, redesign business processes and achieve annual savings of millions of dollars through multiple and diverse projects.

Prior to his work in the telecom sector, Amir held various positions in investment management. Among others, he served as a board and investment committee member for mutual and provident fund management companies and headed the research department for a leading Israeli investment house.

Amir, holds an MBA in Finance from Tel-Aviv University and an Israeli Security Authority license.

Why Twiga?

Twiga is a giraffe in Swahili (the language spoken in Kenya and Tanzania). The giraffe embodies all the qualities that a good business applies relentlessly. A giraffe operates in a unique niche: their source of energy (food) is located at treetops, where competition is scarce, if at all present. Giraffes have a firm infrastructure: because of their size, they have very few enemies; even lions opt for easier pray. In times of grave danger, the giraffe has two modes of operation: it can flee (at over 30 miles per hour) but it can also be assertive defending itself with lethal kicks. The organizational strategy of a giraffe community encourages and supports cooperation, even in raising offspring.

A good business, one that realizes its potential, is characterized by similar qualities. Its business strategy is a roadmap reflecting the true goals of the business and the tactic (marketing, operation, and resource management) which is derived from this strategy, and it is geared towards reaching the business goals and vision. The organizational structure of the business serves to meet the goal as does the inter-organizational strategy. A good business operates in a unique niche of it offers a unique added-value (product, service, shopping experience, customer service) which is one of its business properties. If a giraffe were a business – it would be a flourishing one.
